Spring is here!

Spring has arrived and the preparatory work for the new American grape planting is proceeding as planned. The merlot plants have been uprooted and the field is now being worked with a subsoiler by Pierliugi Jelmini, who is not only the owner of the historical distillery of the same name in Mendrisio, with which Bisbino has been actively collaborating since 2016, but is also a winegrower and very active in the rural world.

This pleasant collaboration, from the field to the still, is very stimulating and the future grappa made from American grapes will be the result of this valuable synergy between local companies in which we at Bisbino believe a lot. In the next few weeks the land will be levelled with a harrow from the young Ortelli farm, so that it can be ploughed while waiting for the rooted cuttings to arrive in April.

In the meantime, Martino and Geraldina have planted numerous new disease-resistant fruit trees of old varieties (sour cherries, apples, pears, cherries, plums and small fruits) and the existing trees have begun to blossom, giving us wonderful colours and intense fragrances.
